ebrary is a collection of nearly 40,000 ebooks in a wide range of subject areas. Access is available from all campus computers.
Off-campus access: UC Berkeley faculty, staff, and students can access this resource from off campus via the Library Proxy Server or VPN (Virtual Private Network).
Quick View is Ebrary's default reader, which allows instant viewing of documents in your browser. To print, copy, or use other advanced features you should use the InfoTools menu from Quick View, or launch the Unity Reader.
The Unity Reader is compatible with Windows and Linux machines, and includes text-to-speech functionality. Printing from the Unity Reader will result in better print quality. Simply click the
button to launch (see screenshot below). If you do not already have the Unity Reader software installed on your computer, you will be prompted to begin the installation process.

The InfoTools menu contains tools that assist you in your search. Most of these resources will load in your browser window; your ebrary Reader window remains open and active while you conduct your research. You can highlight a word, phrase or name within the ebrary document and choose Define (from Merriam-Webster), Explain (from Encyclopedia.com), Locate (from MapQuest or Cartographica), or Who (from Biography.com or Wikipedia).
