Fritz-Metcalf Photographs Collection: Photographs taken by Woodbridge Metcalf and Emanuel Fritz between 1900 and 1960 which relate primarily to forestry, conservation, and the lumber industry in California and the United States. Wieslander Vegetation Type Maps & Photographs: A natural vegetation survey of California and adjacent areas of Nevada and Oregon begun in 1926 by Albert Wieslander. Search by quad number, quad name, photo number, keyword, or species, or browse photographs and maps for a specific location by clicking on an interactive map quad. A project of U.S. National Forest Service and the University of California Berkeley's Marian Koshland Bioscience and Natural Resources Library.

Interdisciplinary Image Collections

PubMed Central: Searching in PubMed Central retrieves figures, charts and photographs linked to full-text resources. A project of the National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine.
ProQuest: Search results in AGRICOLA, Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts, Environmental Sciences & Pollution Management, and GeoRef, display thumbnails of tables and figures. Figures include graphs, illustrations, maps, photographs, and transmission/emission images. Search results also provide a "Tables and Figures" tab, which shows caption snippets and larger thumbnails which link directly to full-size images.
IPM Images: Images related to integrated pest management, including crops, insects, animals, pathogens and plant diseases. Browse by commodity groups, taxonomy, damage types, and biological controls, or search by keyword, photographer, scientific name, subject or image number. JSTOR: Searches can be limited to only results with images, which include figures, tables, drawings, and photographs. The page in which the image is found is shown in thumbnail beneath the link to the full text (if available), or the page can be accessed directly by clicking on the thumbnail.
Science.gov Image Search: Images from NBII's Library of Images from the Environment (NBII LIFE), covering animals, plants, microorganisms, the environment, weather, and research; the NASA Image Exchange (NIX), covering the Earth, the Solar System, aeronautics and space exploration; and the NOAA Photo Library, covering marine species, shores and coastal seas, and weather and space images. Search image metadata by keyword or browse individual collections by topic. A project of the interagency Science.gov Alliance.
Wikimedia Commons: Contains many scientific illustrations, photographs, and animations submitted by users. Contents can be browsed by topic or searched by keyword. The license conditions of each media file are given on its description page. A project of the Wikimedia Foundation.
