Finding Dissertations

Dissertations & Theses  1861-present; 1997-present for some full text
Provides access to the full text of all dissertations from UC since 1997. The first twenty-four pages from all other dissertations for which images exist online are also available. Also included are more than 1.5 million citations and abstracts to doctoral dissertations dating back to 1861. Searchable by thesis advisor.

Finding Protocols

PubMed is an excellent resource for finding recent protocols. The following protocol databases contain the full text of current protocols in a variety of disciplines:

PROTEOME
PROTEOME is a database of protein structures and functions covering mammalian, plant, yeast and worm genomes. Searchable by gene, disease, pathway, transcription factor, and more.

Managing References

• RefWorks: Free to UC Berkeley faculty, students and staff. A web-based reference manager that can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection. (Tutorials and Guides)
• EndNote: A desktop-based reference manager with a web component. Available for purchase at a discounted purchase from the Cal Student Store.
• Zotero: Free Firefox extension that helps you collect and manage references.

Off-Campus Access

The use of some Library resources is restricted to current UC Berkeley faculty, students and staff. To access these resources from off-campus use either the Library Proxy Server (an easy-to-configure browser setting) or the campus Virtual Private Network (VPN) software.
