What's included in Current Melvyl?

Libraries
Current Melvyl is a library catalog for the 10 campuses in the University of California system.

In addition to the UC campus libraries, Melvyl includes library holdings of the California Academy of Sciences, California State Library, Center for Research Libraries, Graduate Theological Union, Hastings College of the Law.

It includes holdings of the following libraries up to the dates indicated. Their complete holdings are searchable in WorldCat.

  • California Historical Society (July 2007)
  • Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (Oct. 2007)
  • UC Berkeley Law Library (Oct. 2007)

The database contains over 25,000,000 records, and most campuses update their holdings on a weekly basis.

Types of material
Melvyl contains records for books, journals, archives, audio-visuals, computer files, dissertations, government documents, maps, music scores, recordings and videorecordings. It includes links to many books available through Google Book Search.

Melvyl lists the titles of journals, magazines, and newspapers that the libraries subscribe to. However, to look up individual articles on a topic, you will need to use separate article databases.
