UC joined the Google Books Library Project in August 2006. Digitization began in November. As of July 31, 2007, Berkeley had sent 471,363 books to be scanned.
The current project focus is material held at the Northern Regional Library Facility. Discussions are focused on broadening the project to include various UC campus on-site collections.
