Scope of Collection
The UC Berkeley Library maintains a collection in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Studies which supports the research and teaching programs not only of the Gender and Women's Studies Department but of many other disciplines, interdisciplinary programs, and professional schools.
Berkeley's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Collections are concentrated mainly in the humanities and social sciences housed in the Gardner Stacks of Doe Library.
Primary Languages and Formats
The primary language is English; the collection concentrates on resources published in US/Commonwealth countries.
Special Collections
- The Bancroft Library contains the "Sexual Orientation and Social Conflict Collection" which includes primary and secondary sources covering various political, social, and legal issues and events involving the intersection of LGBT and heterosexual communities.
- University Archives holds "Gay Bears; The Hidden History of the Berkeley Campus."
