Moffitt Undergraduate Library Reference

Scope of Collection
The Moffitt reference collection is a non-circulating collection of approximately 2000-3000 volumes, primarily in the humanities and social sciences. The main purpose of the reference collection is to support UC Berkeley undergraduates in: serving their basic information and current coursework needs; beginning their research; and becoming information literate.

Humanities and social sciences: basic level. Collection is especially strong in History (including guides to or compilations of primary sources in American history), Literature, Ethnic Studies.

Geographical limits: emphasis on United States. More selective for Latin America, Western Europe, Asia, Africa.

The collection emphasizes 19th century to the present.

Primary Languages and Formats
Most of the collection is in English and Western European languages. The Moffitt reference collection is primarily print format. Microforms and standalone CD-ROM materials are excluded. Moffitt users have access to the electronic reference resources of the Doe/Moffitt Libraries: the Doe/Moffitt CD-ROM network, the Berkeley Library Information Network, and the web-based reference sources available via the Library web site.
