How do I access the netBASE collections (CRCnetBASE, ENGnetBASE, CHEMnetBASE, etc.) from off campus?
Off-campus access to UCB's subscription resources requires you to set up proxy server access in your browser, or to use the campus Virtual Private Network (VPN). See off-campus access instructions at Connecting From Off Campus.
What's my login for the proxy server or the VPN?
When prompted for login information by the proxy server, you can enter either of these two options:
Logging in to the VPN requires your CalNet ID and passphrase.
netBASE prompts me for a username/password.
Once you're logged into any of the netBASEs with the proxy server or VPN, you should not have to enter a username or password to access any of the resources. The server for the database may be down or our campus could have lost access for another reason. Please report this problem to the Engineering Library at the Ask Us page.
I've selected a title but all I see is the Table of Contents.
The table of contents is a list of clickable links. The title of each chapter will be in blue text; to go to a specific chapter, click on the title in the table of contents.

I've selected a chapter in my search results screen or clicked on "Read it Online!" but nothing happens.
Adobe Reader must be set to open within the browser window in order to read PDFs online. How to set Adobe Reader to open within your browser window:

I've selected a chapter in my search results screen or clicked on "Read it Online!" but it takes me to a blank page or the page hangs while loading.
