This is a brief bibliographic guide to general resources for researching architectural history in the Environmental Design Library, UC Berkeley. It includes selected reference works, both print and electronic, and important historical surveys. Methodology
The following publications are examples of books that provide guidance on the methods, principles, historiography and procedures of architectural history, how to interpret the built environment, and how to do research in architectural history. Please see the Environmental Design Library guide:

Lexis-Nexis Academic UCB Only Contains full text and abstracts of news, business, and legal information and provides full-text access to nearly 6,000 individual titles. Users can search foreign and domestic newspapers and wire services; radio and television transcripts; and business, medical, industry, and legislative magazines, journals, and newsletters. There is wide geographic coverage and a translations from foreign-language sources, as well as news services like Reuters, Associated Press, Agence France Press, and Xinhua (New China) News Agency. The database is updated daily for most newspapers and even hourly for some wire services and media transcripts. Coverage varies from newspaper to newspaper, but for example, for the Final New York Times, NYCity edition, available full-text from June 1, 1980 through present; abstracts of articles, January 1, 1969–May 31, 1980.
