Driving Directions
We highly recommend following the driving directions and maps below.
from the University of California Berkeley:
Drive W on
University, N on I-80/580, NW on Hwy 580 (toward San Rafael) take Bayview
off ramp. At stoplight turn L to cross freeway, then follow instructions
from stoplight.
from University of California San Francisco:
Drive E on
Parnassus, N on Stanyan, E on Oak, E on Hwy 101, NE across the Bay Bridge,
N on I-80/580, NW on Hwy 580 (toward San Rafael); take Bayview off ramp.
At stoplight turn L to cross freeway, then follow instructions
from stoplight.
from University of California Davis:
Drive E on Shields,
continue E on First, S on I-80, take Carlson exit, NW on Carlson 1/3 mi.,
L onto Bayview to cross freeway, then follow instructions
from stoplight.
from University of California Merced:
Drive S on N Lake Rd.,
turn slight R onto E Bellevue Rd., turn L onto CA-59/N CA-59; turn slight
R onto W 16th St/CA-99 BR N, merge onto CA-99 N, merge onto CA-120 W
toward Manteca/San Francisco, merge onto I-5 S via exit on L toward San
Francisco/Los Angeles, merge onto I-205 W toward I-580/San Francisco,
I-205 W becomes I-580 W, continue I-580 W toward San Rafael about 52
miles, take Bayview exit. At stoplight turn L to cross freeway, then
follow instructions
from stoplight.
from University of California Santa Cruz:
Drive SW on Bay,
NW on Mission, S on Hwy 1, N on Hwy 17/880. In Oakland, take Hwy 980,
continue toward San Francisco on I-580, then north (before reaching the
Bay Bridge) on I-80/580, NW on Hwy 580 (toward San Rafael); take Bayview
off ramp. At stoplight turn L to cross freeway, then follow instructions
from stoplight.
Instructions From the Stoplight:
From
stoplight at top of overpass, follow frontage road past stop sign ½ mi to
South 47th Street. Turn left, then immediately right, into Richmond Field
Station; continue ahead to NRLF.
Parking:
Guest and visitor parking
requires a Daily Pass, which can be purchased from the dispensing machine
installed near the entry gate. The machine accepts coins and $1 bills. Visitors are allowed a 20-minute grace period for
loading/unloading. Parking permits from any of the UC campuses are
honored. Disabled Parking placard/plate holders must purchase and display
a parking permit/pass. Consult the UC Berkeley Parking &
Transportation (P&T) website for
current info about parking at the Richmond Field Station.

Once you are on the Richmond Field Station consult the RFS Map for driving
directions to Building 400.
Shuttle Service from UC Berkeley Campus:
NRLF patrons may ride the Richmond Field Station shuttle from Berkeley.
All shuttle trips to the RFS leave from the UC Berkeley Hearst Mining
Circle.
