UC students, faculty, and staff have priority access to the Doe Library, Moffitt Library, and the Gardner (MAIN) Stacks.
Doe Library is open to the campus community and general public, and provides easy access for browsing reference collections, government resources, newspapers, and current periodicals. Graduate Services and Art History/Classics Library serve specialized clientele and have access restrictions.
Gardner (MAIN) Stacks is reserved as a primary study area for UC Berkeley students and faculty. The Stacks are open to those with a current UC ID, UC Berkeley Library Card, or Stanford ID. Members of the general public may request access at the Doe Reference Desk (Doe Library, Floor 2) or via the request access form; permission for access to the Gardner (MAIN) Stacks is not automatic as described more fully in the Public Access Policy.
Moffitt Library is reserved for the campus community and is open to those with a current UC ID, UC Berkeley Library Card, or Stanford ID.
Access to Federal, State and International government documents is guaranteed by law.
For details on library cards and borrowing privileges, including special institutional agreements, please consult the Library Privileges Borrowing page.
