Borrowing Materials
UC Berkeley faculty, staff, and students can borrow materials using their current Cal ID card as their library card. Others may obtain a library card at the Privileges Desk in Doe Library. Please consult their Borrowing page for details on library cards.
Loan periods vary depending on the type of material:

| Books | 1 month |
| Journals | 1 week |
| Reserves | 2 hours (no renewals), 1 day (no renewals), or 1 week |
| Reference | Library use only |
| Locked Case | Library use only |
Please return materials by the due date to avoid overdue penalties. You can keep track of due dates via My OskiCat, but recall and overdue notices will also be sent automatically via email.
Renewals, Holds, and My OskiCat
You can manage your library account using My OskiCat:
- Keep track of due dates
- Renew items
- Manage your holds ("requests")
- View your preferred searches
- View your lists
Requests: If an item is checked out by another user or stored in NRLF, you can recall the item using the Request option in OskiCat. We will put the item on hold for you when it is returned or delivered from NRLF.
