Printing and Scanning in the Libraries

Copy machines in the UC Berkeley libraries have been replaced with BookScan stations attached to printers.

All printing, from the BookScan stations and from public workstations in the libraries, must be paid for using the Cal 1 Card payment system. Only the Moffitt Copy Center can accept alternate forms of payment.

UCB Faculty, Staff and Students must deposit funds in the debit account attached to their Cal 1 Card to use it for printing.

Visitors can request a Cal 1 Card Guest Card from the Moffitt Copy Center or from a public service desk in a library. To add funds to the card, go to the Guest Card site.

Scanning

The BookScan stations located in each library can make scans that can be saved to flash drives or sent to the printers. Flash drives are available at the Moffitt Copy Center.

If scans are sent to the printers, the printing costs are applied.

Locations

Black/white printers and BookScan stations are available at all UC Berkeley libraries. Color printers are available at all of the following libraries:

Biosciences and Natural Resources Library
Doe Library, 2nd floor
Earth Sciences & Map Library
Environmental Design Library
Moffitt Library

A color printer will soon be available in the Art History/Classics Library.

Microform Reader-Printers

Reader-printers, used for both reading and printing microforms, accept Cal 1 Cards only for payment and are located in the following libraries:

Bioscience and Natural Resources Library
Business Library
Doe Library, North Reading Room
Earth Sciences & Maps Library
Education/Psychology Library

Engineering Library
Environmental Design Library
Music Library
Newspapers/Microforms Library, Doe Library
