Error Message
"User not recognized" error at the Print Release station |
After print command is initiated at workstation, you are asked to enter your CALNET ID. This error usually appears if you have entered your Cal 1 ID number instead. |
/Process Credit Card
There was a problem: the data you submitted for the Cal 1 Card Guest Card did not match our records.
Please use your browser's back button to return to the previous page to correct the data. / |
For the Cal 1 Card Guest Cards, the lower case letter l (L) and the upper case letter I (I) look very similar; try the other character.
You must enter information for your credit card exactly as it appears in the credit card company's records (name, billing address, etc). |
Cal 1 user account balance error |
Students, faculty and staff using their Cal 1 ID cards may have different types of funds on their cards: debit funds or meal plan
points. (Note this is not true for Cal 1 Card Guest Cards.) To scan/print, there must be funds in the debit account portion of your card - this is different than the meal points portion.
Go to the Cal 1 Card site to review balances and add funds. |
Cal 1 user account error (such as "SVC plan" error) |
These messages indicate that your account needs to reactivated, has insufficient funds, or does not have a debit account activated. These issues must be resolved by the Cal 1Card Office. |
Billing Balance: Balance request failed. Patron SVC Plan2 not scheduled. |
Student Cal 1 Card debit accounts are deactivated if not used after a year. Going online to add value to your debit account triggers reactivation. |
Message appears asking you to confirm the transaction. |
This message will display if you have a low balance on your Cal 1 debit account. If you do not see your job at the Print Release station, try printing again and wait 10-15 seconds before going to the Print Release station to see if the message appears. If the message appears, confirm that you want to print the job. |
Pharos Update failed message. |
Pharos software attempts to update itself every 7 days, if there are no updates then you see the Pharos Update failed message. This message will also appear anytime someone performs
a change control. We are sharing the Pharos Applications with several other campus units, so anytime any of us add printers and make changes to Pharos, we create a change control. When you see the Pharos Update message, just click OK and the print jobs will work. |
Bookscanner stops reading Cal 1 cards. |
Reboot the scanner. To reboot the bookscanner, press the lowest button on the lower right side of the bookscanner display. Press shutdown on the
screen and wait a couple of seconds and press the button again to power up the system. Try the card reader, if it still does not work, then report it. |
BookScan Station tips for page number recommendations: |
The library BookScan Stations scan and create a tiff image for each page sent to a USB or the printer, which take up a lot of memory, so it is good practice to limit the size of scan sessions to 40 black and white pages and 10 color pages per session. For example, if your total number of pages to scan equals 100 black and white pages, you would scan two 40 page sessions and the remaining 20 pages as a session. |
The Cal 1 Card office is located at 180 Cesar Chavez Center, Lower Sproul Plaza and is open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
For help with your CalNet account, including forgotten passphrases, please email calnet@berkeley.edu.
